Bachna Ae Haseeno - Ranbir Kapoor And Deepika Padukone

As the title suggests, Ranbir Kapoor would be a flirt daddy in this movie. Wondering how would they picturize the title song. Much like his father, Rishi Kapoor's bachna Ae haseeno song, this should be foot tapping, Or do you think its going to be the same song but remixed? Don't know yet but I'll know that soon.
It's said to be based on the the Jimmie Shannon starer 'The Bachelor' released in 1999. If you haven't seen the movie, here's the plot for you.

Jimmie Shannon values his freedom more than life itself. As his male peers, even his best buddy, Marco, begin to hook up in marriage, Jimmie continues happily plugging away with his dating lifestyle, ...( read more read more... )in no rush to find "the one." When he least expects it, Jimmie crosses paths with the adorable Anne and falls in love. After a three-year relationship, Jimmie feels the pressures of commitment and decides to "give in", reluctantly proposing to Anne at the most romantic of restaurants. Sensing his uncertainty and angry over his botched and lame attempt at a proposal, Anne dumps Jimmie. Shortly thereafter, Jimmie's grandfather passes away and wills a $100 million inheritance to his grandson, on the condition he marries before his thirtieth birthday, which is less than twenty-four hours away...
I can't share the spoils with you for Bachna Ae Haseeno but seems like an interesting story line for a Bollywood masala movie. I am a staunch Yash Raj Fan and haven't missed a single movie that has come out under that banner. Moreover, it stars, Ranbir Kapoor yaar!! So I'd be sure to watch this one. How about you??

Ranbir Kapoor - The New Star in Bollywood

Ranbir Kapoor with his stellar performance as the flirty youngster in "Bachna Ae Haseeno" has opened his account on a good note in Bollywood. The son of actors Nitu Singh and Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor began his film career with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film "Saawariya". He was paired with Sonam Kapoor (Anil Kapoor's daughter) in the film. The film however, proved a real disaster at the box office. This apart however, both the lead actors managed to move on to better and bigger offers.

Ranbir Kapoor has made his grand entry with his recent film "Bachna Ae Haseeno". The film has been confirmed a hit considering the warm welcome that the Bollywood fans have given it. Running successfully in theatres all over, it is a light film that would have the youngsters asking for more.
Ranbir Kapoor in the film romances three hot and sexy actresses on the Bollywood scene. The actresses include the yound and bubbly Minisha Lamba, the sexy (as admitted by Ranbir Kapoor himself recently on a show) Bipasha Basu and his real life girlfriend Deepika Padukone. The film has superb songs shot at beautiful locales... a real must watch. The promos itself were very likeable and had the movie buffs flocking to the theatres for the first day first show itself. The positive word of mouth publicity too has proved wonderful for the film. The film is sure to go on to new heights boosting the career of the newcomer Ranbir. He surely would have several directors and producers looking out for him desperately now.
The film was released on the Indian Independence day "15th August". The day surely now holds new meaning for Ranbir. The cast of the film Ranbir with his three heroines have been on all possible shows on television and other events trying to promote their film. With Zoom Tv and of course Salman Khan's "Dus Ka Dum" they sure are making their way straight to the homes and hearts of movie fans. The new trend that Bollywood is witnessing -promotion of films through the small screen, the television, is a medium that "Bachna Ae Haseeno" too has cashed in on.
Nitu and Rishi Kapoor are sure proud parents. Ranbir has managed to keep the "Kapoor" flag (the first family of the Hindi Film industry) flying high. His debut film co-star too has moved on to better projects. She is all set for her upcoming release "Dilli 6". Yash Raj Productions and Aditya Chopra too have a reason to smile after really long.

Review of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, a 2013 Bollywood Film By Ayan Mukherjee Starring Ranbir Kapoor

'Yeh Jawaani Hai Ghissi Pitti', 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Puraani', 'Yeh Jawaani Nahi, Bachpanaa Hai', or 'Wake Up Sid (Hangover Version)' could easily become alternate titles for 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'... no, let me change that a bit - more suitable titles for Ayan Mukherjee's sophomore effort... no, not really an effort, more an attempt at direction.
He serves you cold soup this time and that isn't the worst part - he also serves you the same soup. With a heavy handed treatment; it feels like your college canteen's old lunch lady's made the soup. That's how lazy Ayan Mukherjee is this time - his story is trite, his dialogues are stale, his characters are hackneyed, their situations clichéd and their resolutions tiresome. This guy seriously needs to grow out of this 'follow your dreams' 'accept change' 'settle down' phase; yes, he got his chance in 'Wake Up Sid' and he fared well, but this is plain directorial lethargy.

Deconstructing Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani's plot shall begin with a cliché - it's about four young friends. Oh, a respite - two are boys and two are girls so it's not the 'all-guy film' or the 'all-girl film'. This film starts with one of the girls reminiscing her past, as the other is to get married. The girl who's narrating is Naina Talwar (Deepika Padukone), and she takes us eight years back into the past, when she was studious, plain-Jane, good-girl Naina. And as all studious good-girls need to be spectacled, she dons one. Still looks hot in it, but since it's Bollywood and spectacles is equal to 'behenji or nerd', our Naina's totally ignored by guys.
She's in the supermarket with her snobbish mother, shopping in her little skirt/shorts (anyway, she's showing legs, but nobody notices because she's got 'spectacles' on). She hears someone yell near the exit counter; it's Aditi, her former schoolmate. Aditi is mad at a young stout kid who was checking out her legs (according to her). He tells her she's not that hot - she gets madder. Naina approaches her, they greet, Naina's mother talks about her daughter, Aditi praises Naina for being the 'padhaku' type and then tells about her trip to Manali. The scene ends with Naina being secretly invited by her to the trip.
Next scene at dining table. Naina's mom's insulting Aditi for being the 'bad girl'. Naina throws a tantrum with 'I want a holiday' and then leaves the table. Next we see her checking out Make My Trip Site, probably co-sponsors for this film because they're everywhere! Our brave girl Naina slips out the next day and joins Aditi for the trip but Aditi isn't alone - she's with Bunny and Avi.
We're already introduced to these two chaps - Bunny is the photographer who dreams of travelling around the world (for some reason, Ayan can't think outside the box; Ranbir Kapoor in Wake Up Sid = photographer, Ranbir Kapoor in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani = photographer) while Avi is an alcoholic who loses lots on gambling (no idea how he gets the money). We first find Bunny in a brothel filming with a foreign crew about prostitutes; so there's the usual 'spicy talk' with the prostitute, then a totally purposeless dance number featuring Madhuri Dixit. But we know why it's been added - it's a Karan Johar production, he was a judge with Dixit on a dancing reality show, he must've thought it appropriate to randomly place her in a dance number that's got NOTHING to do with anything. She looks lovely though, and her dancing is sensuous and expressive but why on earth (or why in a brothel of all places) is it there?
So Bunny's the photographer who calls his step-mom 'step-mom' (ridiculous and childish - why not the first name?), Avi is the faltu (useless) alcoholic, Avi is the cool girl and Naina the 'scholar'. All board the train to Manali, their trip being sponsored by MAKE MY TRIP (they could've just had the four break the fourth wall and shout 'I love Make My Trip!). They meet hot chicks, and Bunny has a crush on one of them called Lara, a hot but dumb chick like you see in every other college movie; the girl actually has a background music' played whenever she's on screen and it's so kiddish, your brain feels embarrassed that it has gifted you the power of hearing for these sounds. Okay, so on trip our Naina loosens up (she wears lenses and voila turns into a hot crazy babe in a day), begins enjoying life (she gets drunk. Don't tell her fussy mom though) and falls in love with Bunny, who's commitment-phobic. There's a scene where both Naina and Bunny scream from the edge of a hilltop and you really wish they'd slip and fall to their deaths so the film could surprise us.
The film never does surprise us. Our hero Bunny leaves for US after the trip, Naina becomes Aditi's best friend, Aditi decides to marry a podgy guy named Taran after Avi doesn't reciprocate the feelings she has for him, while Avi remains a drunkard and is in huge debt. The second half's more embarrassing and most of its set around Aditi's marriage. Random characters come and go and we are meant to chuckle (we don't, not once). There are the 'buddy movie serious scenes' we don't care about; they're a chockfull of banal moments stuffed with platitudes you'd find on Facebook, written by IQ 100 boys and girls who only think their crappy thoughts are profound.
One think I observed in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which I pretty much took notice of in other commercial Bollywood movies but didn't bother to report is the absence of spontaneity among actors. Take the scene where Deepika and Ranbir are alone at camp-site and she can't resist him; she holds his hands even after their conversation is done.
To show this, Ranbir has a dialogue 'Then why are you still holding my hand' which then reveals her hand holding his. Wouldn't it have been better to frame the two characters from a distance and show her spontaneously holding his hands and not leaving them? It was such a delight to watch Meryl Streep and Eastwood fall in love in Bridges of Madison County because both were responding slowly without the need for any mechanical gesture or motion. Bollywood however thrives on mechanical motions that just feel inauthentic.
Deepika is more than tolerable as the nerdy woman but her character's so easily transformed into a beauty queen only based on the hideous notion that wearing spectacles makes you nerdy. Ranbir is a method actor and I really wonder what he thought about the randomly inserted dance numbers - did he never question Ayan why his character could dance and sing like a professional? Or probably his bank account was so overstuffed with Johar's money that he overlooked everything else. Kalki and Aditya Roy Kapur are passable in their poorly written roles.
This kind of film minting hundred crores at the box office is sheer criminality. Don't encourage Ayan Mukherjee to make more like these! Stop Johar from making money like this!

Barfi! - Watch Ranbir Kapoor At His Very Best!

Someone once said that true love is blind to all the injustices set down by selfish society. It can grow even in the midst of poverty and follow a completely no fear or favor course. Anurag Basu's 'Barfi' is about this and much more. It is the celebration of life. 'Barfi!' is the story of Murphy (lovingly referred to as Barfi by the people) who has a speech and hearing disability and lives every single day of his life to the fullest! With Barfi, Anurag Basu has successfully shown us an amazing story of a deaf-and-dumb man and an autistic girl without the support of loud background scores and other means and has also got the audiences' involved in the proceedings.

South Indian actress Illeana D'Cruz gets into the depths of her character named Shruti (a Bengali belle) to narrate the magical tale of Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor) who happens to be a fun loving character living with his ageing father in Darjeeling of the 70s. Barfi is charming for his cute Chaplin-meets-Mr. Bean funny acts, but more than that, people love him for his childlike and uncomplicated heart. Barfi meets Shruti on her trip to Darjeeling and she finds herself falling for him despite the fact that she is about to get married to a wealthy man back in Kolkata. After a short-lived romance, Shruti chooses worldly pleasures over true love and marries the wealthy man, leaving Barfi dejected and heartbroken.
Jhilmil Chatterjee (played by Priyanka Chopra) is an autistic girl who belongs to rich family in Darjeeling but her family does not seem to care about her emotional needs. Meanwhile, as Barfi tries to come to terms with the fact that Shruti has dumped her, he finds his father suffering from kidney failure. Barfi has no money and tries all possible ways to get the money for his father's treatment but to no avail. Left with no other choice, quite reluctantly, Barfi and his best friend plan to kidnap Jhilmil and blackmail her parents for the money. Within a short span of time, Barfi and Jhilmil realize that they are made for each other and they will have no problems sharing the rest of their lives together without bothering about their physical disabilities. Meanwhile, Shruti could never forget Barfi and even after six years of marriage, she realizes that she still loves the fun loving mute-and-dumb man from Darjeeling.
The story swings from 1978, 1972 and 2012 in a smooth and clear manner and the songs are touching and soulful. Cinematographer Ravi Varman captures striking North Bengal in a marvelous way. Each frame is like a wonderful painting.
The music and background score of the film has been composed by Pritam. Priyanka Chopra was supposed to sing for the film but her contract with Universal Music prevented her from taking the offer. Some additional vocals were given by Ranbir Kapoor himself.
Ranbir Kapoor delivers a stellar performance. After grabbing awards last season for his superb performance in 'Rockstar', Ranbir easily portrays the role of Barfi, leaving the audience speechless. Barfi's character teaches us that life is all about seeking happiness in small things rather than getting wasted in pursuing worldly pleasures. Priyanka Chopra essays the role of an autistic girl with elegance and Bollywood newbie Illeana D'Cruz plays the role of a girl fighting for her own wishes with brilliance.
To sum up, Anurag Basu's 'Barfi!' is an absolute sweet treat for his fans. He has shown us that people with disabilities cannot only be portrayed as lifeless characters on screen. "Barfi" is a sweet that you cannot afford to taste and indulge yourself!

Michael Jackson - The Truth

What's the truth about Michael Jackson? Unlike so many of the so called "talents" that are manufactured today on shows like American Idol, Michael Jackson's talent was natural. Even from the age of seven, his father Joe knew saw something there and began to exploit it early.

The truth is, somethings can't be taught or learned and Michael's talent certainly fits this category. Along with the ability to sing, dance and perform with the expertise of person many years older, young Michael Jackson was destined to be a star, whether he wanted it or not. It was clear that he loved to perform, however it also became obvious that he did not like socializing with people when he was off stage.
Only a few were allowed into his inner circle, mostly stars that shared a common ground with his rise from childhood stardom. Famous people like Elizabeth Taylor, Brook Shields, Macaulay Culkin, Emmanuel Lewis, and others who had a similar background were the few allowed into Michael Jackson's world.
It was if they were all part of a fraternity of childhood stars that were forced to grow up quickly and thus lose their chance to be children at all.
With Michael, it seemed as if his artistic abilities were in direct contrast to his social skills and the two struggled to coexist throughout his rather short life. One could witness that when it came time to perform, Michael became a different person. Watch some of his videos and you'll see evidence of this: the expressions on his face, the determination to shine and impress, vs. off stage, when being interviewed, as he became rather shy and withdrawn.
In an interview several years back, Michael Jackson confessed that his childhood was not a very happy one. The pressures put on him by his father, which included both verbal and physical abuse, was just the start. Then, as he became the focal part of the Jackson 5, Michael felt the pressure of having to carry the family on their never ending ride to success. It was soon clear that he was the bread winner and the family was counting on him to out do himself with every consecutive success. Imagine having your family as well as the rest of the world expecting you to out perform yourself time and time again.
It's been documented that Michael Jackson would follow the charts daily to see where his record sales were and how they were charting. First came Off The Wall, and then Thriller, and then Bad, and with each successive album, Michael was determined to out do himself, a feat that proved impossible.
Millions of fans around the world are now mourning the loss of this incredible talent. How sad it is that we as humans forget what we have until it's no longer around, however I guess that's what makes us human after all. However, instead of the media dwelling on how different he was, his strange behavior, and his quirks, why not revel in his genius and art? After all, I'm sure if we all search deep within ourselves, every one of us has our own quirks and deep, dark secrets. Michael was a true genius when it came to his craft and his abilities and no speculation or undermining of his character now that he is gone will ever take away from that. In fact, as time goes by, the only things that will most likely remain about this man is his music. And that's all Michael Jackson wanted anyway: to share his gift with the world.
