Quinoa salad with peaches and pickled onions

Ingredients :

1 1/2 cups quinoa (any color) rinsed well
1 medium red onion, sliced ¼” thick
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
3 Tbsp. sugar
2 large ripe firm peaches, cut into ½” pieces
1/2 bunch arugula, thick stems trimmed, leaves torn (about 2 cups)
2 cups small cherry tomatoes (about 1 pint), halved
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup ½” pieces chives, divided
4 tsp. kosher salt plus more
Freshly ground black pepper

Method :
Bring quinoa and 4 cups water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Season with salt. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer until quinoa is tender, 8–10 minutes. Drain, return quinoa to pan, and cover. Remove from heat and let sit 15 minutes. Fluff with a fork and spread out on a rimmed baking sheet; let cool.
Meanwhile, place onion in a small bowl. Bring vinegar, sugar, and 4 tsp. salt to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar and salt. Pour over onion and let stand 20 minutes. Drain, reserving pickling liquid.
Toss pickled onion, peaches, arugula, tomatoes, oil, ¼ cup chives, and 3 Tbsp. reserved pickling liquid in a large bowl; season with salt, pepper, and more pickling liquid, if desired. Fold in quinoa.
Serve salad topped with remaining ¼ cup chives.

Begin melting your butter in a pan over medium-low heat. Toast your bread and cutout on one side in the pan until golden. Don't turn your heat up. You'll risk burning your bread and butter. Turn your bread to the other side as well as your round cutout. Melt a tiny bit of butter in the bread hole, crack the egg directly into the hole and cook until the egg is set to your preference. Season with salt and pepper and serve with the toasted cutout.

Directions :

Form a rice patty with your hands and make it firm. You need to ensure that it is thick and in size it should be like a hamburger patty.
Grab a small bowl and pour in a teaspoon each of water, soy sauce and sesame oil. You need to stir the mixture with a spoon nicely before brushing it on each side of the patty.
Heat the pan

Both Kim and Kanye gave heart-warming speeches at the event.
Earlier on Friday, the couple, who have 11-month-old daughter North, were joined by a small number of family members for a lavish lunch at fashion designer Valentino Garavani's 17th century estate.

The couple will enjoy a special rehearsal brunch, organised by Valentino and Vogue's Andre Leon Talley, on Friday (23.05.14) before taking their guests for a private 'guided tour' of the Palace of Versailles.
On Saturday morning, they're expected to fly all of their guests via private jets to Florence, Italy to watch them exchange vows at Fort Belvedere.
A spokesperson for the mayor of Florence revealed the couple have rented the fort for $420,000.

The 'Bound 2' rapper is said to be growing increasingly 'paranoid' about information leaks so has told different groups friends and family members different locations as to where he and Kim Kardashian will tie the knot, but then gives them different information hours later.

Kanye and Kim - who have 11-month-old daughter North together - had originally hoped to marry in Paris, but under French law, they would be unable to do so without residing in the country for 40 days first.
However, the 36-year-old musician is said to be convinced he can persuade French authorities to give them special dispensation to marry in the city.
A source said: 'Kanye still thinks that the French government will come around because of who they are.

Being Bollywood's 'Mr Perfectionist' comes with its own problems, as superstar Aamir Khan feels guilty for not being able to spend enough time with his family.
The meticulous star, who prepares extensively before taking up any project and thus ends up doing only one film a year, says he found it difficult to juggle shooting for Dhoom 3, Peekay, and doing research for his TV show Satyamev Jayate 2.

Aamir's son, Azad, turned a year-old recently. The actor said he would take his son along for shootings so that he could spend more time with him.
"I have always felt that I am not spending enough time with my children and family. I spent 25 years with this guilt.
The problem is that I get so lost in my work that I don't realise it. I feel guilty that I am so self-centred. But, I think I am a good father and a good husband," Aamir said.
The father-of-three said his youngest, Azad, born through surrogacy, has started going to play school now.
"We feel blessed to have Azad in our lives. His face lights up our life. Now he has started going to play school but earlier he would not let me leave for work and I would end up taking him on my shoots," he added.
Aamir, who is now gearing up for the release of Dhoom 3, said producer Aditya Chopra had to delay the film for a year as he wanted to prepare extensively.
"The physical training was really difficult. I had to have a lean but flexible body for my character of gymnast. I had only nine per cent of body fat while doing the film but got relaxed after I finished shooting.
"I remember when Adi asked me about beginning the shoot, I said, 'I will need a year'. He was surprised but now when he watches the film, he realises why I needed that time."
Aamir, who spent two years learning tap-dancing, body building and gymnastics for Dhoom: 3, said he agreed to do the film because he fell in love with the story which has more emotions this time.
The Khans - Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman - have been ruling Bollywood for the longest time but the actor, who avoided taking Shah Rukh's name during the course of discussion, said he does not feel any rivalry from his contemporaries.
"Competition is not in my nature. I feel happy to see a good work like what Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) did in Munnabhai or what Ranbir (Kapoor) did in Barfi. Salman is my friend and also a bigger star than me. I prepare so much but he does not need to do that. He will shake his belt, move his goggles and that's enough for the success of his films. I feel happy about it," the actor said.
Aamir's conflict with Amol Gupte during the making of Taare Zameen Par (2007), which marked his debut as a director, is well known but the actor clarified that he did not take the film away from Gupte as was reported.
"Amol came to me with the script and he wanted to direct it. The six months that I spent with him, I thought he should direct it but when we began shooting within a week, I lost my confidence in him as a director," Aamir said.
"I returned the script to him and said that I will write-off whatever has already been spent because of what I felt. I said I will not be in this film, you can take it to anyone else. But he requested me to direct the film. My conscience is clear. I did what I felt was right," he said.
Aamir Khan plays a drunkard in Peekay. Sources say Aamir Khan could be playing a man from outer space in Rajkumar Hirani's upcoming film.
Instead of playing run-of-the-mill characters, Aamir Khan is known to experiment with his roles and looks in the films that he greenlights. Famous for donning over-the-top hairstyles and bizarre costumes, now we hear that the actor will be playing an alien in Rajkumar Hirani's upcoming film.
Aamir has been snapped sporting ghagras, canary yellow helmets, a brightly coloured mouth and an assortment of beads and hair-bands for Peekay. Says a source, "Aamir combined a coat with a skirt and had a tape recorder strapped to his body during the last schedule of the film. His appearance definitely made him look out of the ordinary, quite literally. He is playing an alien among his many roles in Raju's film."
Hirani, however, rubbishes the buzz and states, "He plays a drunkard in the film."
It looks like Aamir Khan has done it again. Sources say the actor has ditched dialogues in Hindi for a local dialect the second time in his career for Rajkumar Hirani's upcoming film titled Peekay.
For his 2001 film Lagaan, Aamir's dialogues were in local Avadhi. Sources say all of the actor's dialogues in Raju's film will be in Bhojpuri.
A source says, "Aamir's character is from a region in the country where Bhojpuri is spoken locally. He also had dialogues in Bhojpuri for a cola ad he did many years ago."
Peekay also features Anushka Sharma and Kai Po Che! actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rajkumar Hirani, director of successful films Munnabhai M.B.B.S, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and 3 Idiots, is not trying to outdo his contemporaries and says his endeavour is to tell good stories.
Currently, he is busy shooting Peekay, starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead.
"I don't think any of us is running a race. I don't think I am running a race with any other director or his films... I don't think we are in a race at all," Hirani said at the launch of a CD on positive thinking - "Raageshwari Narrates Daily Affirmations by Louise Hay".
"All of us are saying stories, which are completely different. If we say good stories, if it connects with audiences, all the films will work. So there is no race," he added.
According to Hirani, there is no formula to make a successful film.
"I don't think any of us can make a formula. If we could, then every film would work. So the best thing is not to worry about whether your film will work or not. Try and make what will work for you. So my effort is to try and tell a story that works for me, I connect with, and which I believe in," said the 50-year-old filmmaker.
Aamir Khan "forgets English names" but likes Daniel, Leonardo
Bollywood's superstar Aamir Khan, who completed his 25 years in filmdom this year, names Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio and three-times Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis as his favourite Hollywood actors.
"I like a few Hollywood stars. I tend to forget English names, I like Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln," said the actor here at the screening of Hollywood film Star Trek Into Darkness along with filmmaker-wife Kiran Rao.
Aamir, who is shooting for two films Dhoom 3 and PeeKay simultaneously, rues the fact that he rarely gets time to watch films and is happy to watch the recent Hollywood release, directed by JJ Abrams, which is the 12th installment of "Star Trek" franchise.
"I get to see film very rarely so I am happy that I am getting a chance to watch this film," said the 48-year-old actor.
After pictures of him with his younger son Azad were flashed in the media, now comes the news that Aamir took time off from the shoot of his upcoming action film Dhoom 3 to spend a day with his daughter Ira on her birthday on Wednesday. His son, Junaid, who is assisting Raju Hirani, is always around him on the sets of Peekay.
Our source says, "On Wednesday (May 8) afternoon, Aamir left the sets of his film Dhoom 3 at lunch time and was later seen having a quiet lunch with his daughter Ira. Later we came to know it was Ira's birthday. Aamir had requested Aditya Chopra much in advance to give him half a day off so that he could be around her on her special day. In fact, he made sure to come earlier in the morning at around 7 am so that some of his solo portions could be shot and he could finish his work beforehand."
After the lunch, some of Ira's friends came over to his Bandra residence, and Aamir spent the evening hanging out with them. "To add cherry to the cake, he had also arranged a surprise party for her calling all the family members at home. All the close family members came over to wish Ira on her special day," adds the informer.

Solange Knowles has reportedly deleted photographs of Beyoncé from her Instagram account.
The 27-year-old singer has erased all of her snaps with her older sister, apart from one posted 15 months ago, from the photo-sharing site after video footage emerged yesterday (12.05.14) of her physically attacking the 'XO' hitmaker's husband Jay Z last week, according to RadarOnline.com.

Solange was caught on camera lashing out at the 44-year-old rapper in an elevator at the Met Gala after-party, held at The Standard Hotel in New York, last Monday (05.05.14).
The tape shows the brunette beauty kicking and clawing Jay - whose real name is Shawn Carter - as his bodyguard struggles to hold her back, while Beyoncé watches the violent altercation helplessly in the background.
However, at one point, the 32-year-old singer does step in to defend her spouse, with whom she has two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, after her sister breaks free and continues to shout abuse at the 'Holy Grail' hitmaker.
Following the disagreement, the siblings were then seen getting into a car together, while Jay opted to travel alone.
It is not known for definite what caused the aggressive disagreement, but the couple showed no signs of trouble in paradise yesterday when they were spotted at a basketball game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat at the Barclays Centre in New York City.
