You have heard about laying eggs of different animals, but have you ever heard of a rock that lays eggs � if not, then let me tell you about a mysterious rock of China that lays eggs of round and oval shape every 30 years. The geologists consider that they have found the secrets behind an odd cliff wall that lay egg-shaped stones every 30 years.
Located in the province of Guizhou area of Qiannan Buyi, the Chan Da Ya (egg-producing cliff) has astonished and disturbed the scientists for the last few decades. The 19 feet high and 65 feet long, Chan Da Ya cliff emits round and oval shaped stones of different sizes. These stones appear from the surface of rock over the time and ultimately fall on the ground after completing the size. All this process takes 30 years of time.
This view of rocking eggs is very unique and expert geologists hope they will soon succeed in taking off the secrets.
Each hollow emits one egg every 30 years. The inhabitants around the rock pick up these rocks and take them to their homes. They consider the oval rocks a symbol of fortune and luck. During the past few years, these stones were sold and a huge profit was earned.
A number of geological tests done on the ground revealed that it shaped during the Cambrian period (around 500 million years ago). However, the particular area of the cliff which is a part of Mount Gandeng is made of calcareous rock that is common in several regions on Earth.
The experts say that the variance in time it takes for each rock to erode has therefore been ascribed to the appearance of these eggs which contain heavy sediment deposits. But still it cannot be elucidated how the odd-shaped stones appear in smooth shapes and size; or how a 500 million years old geological region managed to encompass a calcareous rock formation. In 2009, Yang Shengjia (Director of Local Tourism Bureau) encouraged members of the state to visit in the region, saying that tourists would be �astonished� to see the rock which lays eggs.
